Welcome to University in Nordland (UiN).  As a student at UiN, you are represented by the Bodø Student Organisation, which is the official representative of the general student community to the university authorities.

Bodø Student Organisation

The Bodø Student Organisation is a volunteer organisation aimed at securing students' rights as well as the quality of education at UiN.  The organisation consists of the Student Parliament and the Student Board as well as the student unions and various other associations. 

The organisation is represented by the Student Leader, who also has the responsibility for the daily management of the organization's affairs.  The Student Leader for the academic year 2012/2013 is Øystein Strømsnes. The Student Leader is also responsible for representing the students' interests vis à vis the administration and for fronting student interests and issues in the media.

Student Unions

The student unions first and foremost represent and act to secure the rights of students, over university, faculty or staff interests.  Additionally, the student unions are the driving force behind the creation of a lively student culture and social environment. To find out more, contact the union associated with your faculty or field of study:

The International Student Union

The International Student Union (ISU) aims specifically to support the university's international students.  ISU fills the same official capacities as the other students' unions.  Additionally, ISU arranges regular activities and events, which give international students the opportunity to socialise and look around Bodø.  Events include international week, film nights, quizes and an annual farewell party for students leaving Bodø. The weekly coffee hour takes place at Samfunnet on Wednesdays.

ISU's office is located across the hall from Alexandria Cafe. The ISU student organisation in Bodø has established its own Facebook site.
