​Central Research and Development funding
​In order to stimulate and engage academic staff and researchers in research activities and professional development, UiN’s Central Research and Development funds are allocated to PhD candidates.

Nordland County Council

Nordland County works with regional development and research in several ways, amongst other things, through funds and programmes. One relevant fund is RFF Nord, through which Nordland, Troms and Finnmark County Councils have joined forces to establish a fund aimed at strengthening research for regional innovation and development.​

​The Regional Research Fund for Northern Norway
The Regional Research Fund aims to strengthen research and innovation at regional level by supporting the region’s priority areas and stimulating R&D efforts. Find call for proposals here.

The Research Council of Norway

The Research Council of Norway (NRC) was established by the Norwegian government. The aim of the organisation is to fund research, give political advice to regional public bodies, and build networks between business, universities and other stakeholders. University of Nordland now runs several research projects financed by NRC. More information about this organization is available on this

​The Seventh Framework Programme
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) is EU’s programme for research. The aim of the FP7 is to keep European research at a high international level. FP7 is the world’s largest research funding agency with a total budget of 52 billion €.
 
  • This programme funds transnational research collaboration within and outside EU. The programme is further divided into 10 thematic areas corresponding to important knowledge and technology areas in Europe.

 

  • Ideas support cutting-edge  frontier research in all disciplines. The focus is on dynamic, creative and outstanding research. To receive funding from this programme applicants have to put forward an outstanding and original research idea.
  • Participants are through the Marie Curie Actions programme (MCA programme) divided into three categories: researcher training, career development, and collaboration between industry and the academy.

 

  • The aim of this programme is to improve research and innovation capacity throughout Europe, and to bring research further on to its best possible use.
