If you have some spare time over summer, we recommend you check out TED: Ideas worth spreading. This is a treasure trove of completely free lectures about technology, innovation and creativity from some of the world's best minds and most fascinating people.
TED spans the fields of science, business, design and the arts. You can search and sort by topics such as "persuasive", "ingenious", "informative" and "under 3 minutes". Find out what "superstring theory" actually means from physicist Brian Greene or find a new professional idol.
We discovered TED during a talk by Liv Gulbrandsen at the 73rd Norwegian Library Conference. Teaching students will find TED especially useful. TED-ed provides targeted videos for educators on a broad range of themes and even the possibility of customizing videos to suit your lesson plan.
Feel free to post your favourite finds on the Library's facebook page!
